It was without thought nor hesitation, that on one fine sunny morning I stop my car, back up about twenty feet and bring myself to a safe spot beside the road. I walk gingerly through dried pine needles, tiny rocks and pretty wild flowers growing in sand, all in my Sunday best and with heels on as well. All to sift through a pile of ever growing “discards” which people have not seen fit to toss into their own piles, to procure this treasure to which had so willingly enticed my "reduce, reuse and recycle" heart.I have for weeks wondered if I should stop and pick up that discarded mailbox with the elegant scrolled post which had been so tragically ripped from its former hold. It takes a little doing but with deft skill and effort, I pull the mailbox out from under the pile, brush it off, try several times before it fits into the car and finally bring it home.
With the coming of spring, I think what a wonderful gift for my little bird friends, which frequent my trees and shrubs with their many nests. I am constantly looking for interesting and functional items to give my garden the many comforts which will keep my little bird friends happy, healthy and returning to my home, garden and trees for years to come.
How right I was! My birds just love their new little home. It shades them from the hot sun, keeps them dry when the rain pours down and at this moment holds a cute little nest for a new mama.

This new little “house” adjoins my birdbath, as a safe and watery haven for my little birds.
As well does as a chipped and cracked glass vase, now tipped on its side, and filled with moss and ferns, providing comfortable housing for the little geckos and lizards which also find their homes in my little semi-shade garden. This little eco-friendly garden all filled with drought-resistant, no-care perennials and native plants, which is decorated with eco-friendly recycled items which cater to the whims of myself and my little nature friends.
